Welcome

We have always travelled around Italy and overseas. During a winter walk on the Matterhorn Grande Balconata between La Magdeleine and Chamois 20 years ago, we discovered the beautiful Suis hamlet. On a sunny day, sat outside the little Notre-Dame de la Pitié chapel, we met Emilio, the only permanent resident of the village. He shared stories of his life in Suis and showed us his hand made baskets, a tradition of the Aosta Valley. We had always wanted an environmentally friendly home, and on noticing a dilapited hut, our journey began and we chose to renovate it into the house it stands today, Maison de Suis.
As we spent time with people of Chamios we learnt more of the history and culture of this charming place, and have developed a great respect for this truely untouched ecaspe in the wilderness, a rareity in modern times. We particularly admire the Peoples choice to conserve this charm through prohibiting the use of cars. All this makes for a wonderful escape that we have chosen to  transform our second home into Maison de Suis, for all to enjoy.
