Summer Activities
Go BackChamois is surrounded by an extensive alpine area which can be explored by superb walking trails that criss-cross the mountain hills, in varying difficulty levels. Many of the paths are also cycling friendly.
The trail of the Grande Balconata del Cervino (Matterhorn Great Balcony) allows you to reach La Magdeleine from the south, and Cheneil-Valtournenche-Breuil from the north. The Alta Via 1 mountain route allows one to reach the Val d’Ayas Valtournenche east and north-west. It’s also possible to take the old mule track where you will arrive near the town of Buisson.
With high passes and steep ascents for the more challenging hikers, there is a Energy Route for the fitness and environmental fanatics.
Surrounding the Lake Lod, there is a picnic area and fishing facilities. The lake may be accessed by chairlift during the summer.
For adventure sport lovers, there are Paragliding, Hang Gliding and Kite sailing facilities, where you may take off from the Clavalité Sanctuary. Near the village there is the Suis airport Chamois, which is open in both the summer and winter.
There is a riding school situated next to the bridge connecting Suis and Corgnolaz, where you may practise riding and trekking in the exhilarating mountains.
The scenic beauty of Chamois is an ideal setting for cultural events, such as the ChamoiSic Music Festival. The annual summer event platforms experimental jazz and electronic music and is now in its eighth edition. There is also a popular mountain flower show, a must-see event for wildlife lovers.
